Job description

 

The PGA of America is moving to Frisco, Texas – the "2018 Best Place to Live in America” - where it will anchor a 600-acre, mixed-use, golf-centric development, including the golf club, future Omni resort and PGA headquarters. Currently under construction, the golf club will feature two championship golf courses, a 10-hole short course, a two-acre putting course and a 37-acre practice facility. The future two-story clubhouse will offer golfers and guests alike a 19th hole restaurant, private dining on the second floor overlooking the fairways, upscale lounges and locker rooms and a golf shop designed to entice all levels of fans from PGA tournament players to weekend golfers and other enthusiasts.


The Omni PGA Frisco Golf Club is seeking a Chemical Application Technician. The Application Technician will report to the Managing Superintendent of Golf Courses and Grounds and will have a direct relationship with the Application Foreman. This individual is responsible for supporting the Golf Course Superintendents and Application Foreman in administering all applications pertaining to fertility, plant protectants and chemistries utilized in conditioning finely manicured turfgrass. This individual will be responsible for all related equipment maintenance operations within the application department. This individual oversees all aspects of the equipment utilized in process, chemical storage facilities, mix/load equipment and inventories associated with the golf facility.

 

The position will represent Omni Hotels and Resorts, its partners and related facilities in the utmost professional manner. These facilities include Fields Ranch East, West, Short Course, Practice Facilities and all other areas encompassing the 600-acre facility.


  • Understands current technological advances in GCM and will assist in upholding operational standards and procedures for department.
  • Coordination and skill set in conducting major golf championships and managing complex agronomic programs.
  • Implements, conducts and enforces comprehensive safety programs related to department.
  • Spray prescribed amounts of fertilizer, insecticides, herbicides and fungicides, using hoses and truck mounted tanks.
  • Calibrate spray and rotary equipment as required.
  • Assist course superintendents in planning current and long-range spray programs.
  • Maintain daily spray records and maintain inventories.
  • Responsible for the direct preventive maintenance of all equipment associated with the task of spraying and equipment.
  • Read, understand and keep current with all Product Labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Assist in maintaining chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations.
  • Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
  • Effective operation of all other maintenance equipment as required.

Education and Experience:

High school education preferred with college education in a related field a plus and or up to one-year related experience and/or training in course operations and the use of pesticides and fertilizers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
