Chassis Mechanic

Summary:

This position is responsible for estimating, inspecting, maintaining and repairing, Chassis within the Chassis M&R Department. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities:

• Perform all functions in accordance with operation and safety guideline.
• Follow the Institute of International Chassis Lessors (IICL) guidelines as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), to assure the safe operating condition of each intermodal equipment
• Perform systematic inspections, restructures, estimations, and produce work order repairs for intermodal equipment.
• Inspect intermodal equipment to determine quality and need of repair
• Perform repairs and restructures on intermodal equipment using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, etc.

Qualifications:

• Must have minimum one (1) year of chassis maintenance and repair work experience.
• Must have small hand tools (screw drivers, socket set, wrenches)
• Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance, repairs and replacement of chassis/ trailer parts
• Should possess basic knowledge and use of handheld computers
• Basic knowledge of air brake systems and the ability to diagnose brake problems
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to trace shorts in wiring
• Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends and holidays.

Pay Rate:$19 hr.

Available Shift:Monday Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends as required
