Responsible for developing strategic allocation of charitable investments and programs for designated community banking regions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partners closely with Community Banking Regional leadership as the internal and external owner executing giving strategies and investments that align to bank objectives.
- Responsible for the strategic allocation of charitable investments and community relationships for designated Community Bank regions (CBRs) aligning to business objectives, including enterprise-wide initiatives and CRA business priorities.
- Serves as the subject matter expert and advisor on all charitable giving efforts of the M&T Charitable Foundation and Corporate Giving program; educates key stakeholders internally and externally in this role as the trusted advisor.
- Regional owner and representative face of the Foundation with internal and external clientele across the community banking regions, representing the M&T Charitable Foundation and the bank in the highest possible professional manner; ability to influence positively and rational
- Representative owner for designated regions of Grant Management Committee, including vetting of grant applications, adhering to processes and procedures for approvals, declines and funding decisions, and communications with organizations.
- Responsible for delivering against strategic direction and partnering with Charitable Grants Administrator for the successful delivery of corporate giving and charitable grants.
- Aligns and delivers investments against established budgetary and strategic goals for annual reporting.
- Effectively aligns funding requests to maximize benefit to receiving entity and optimize benefit to community impact.
- Manages established M&T Charitable Foundation regional budgets in accordance with the Foundation by-laws and sound financial practices.
- Ensure consistency and adherence to strategies, policies and overall delivery of the Foundation's mission.
- Maintains strong collaborative relationships with non-profits and philanthropic associations.
- Assumes active role on charitable boards and committees; attends civic functions and events to promote the foundation and to create a positive image in the community.
- Conducts partner site visits to meet Foundation requirements and ensure strategic fit and alignment against bank objectives.
- Manages donation dollars and designated spending targets with appropriate internal and external documentation and reporting.
- Partners closely with Communications, Community Activation, and Brand Sponsorships team to elevate visibility and storytelling of giving programs and local community investments against brand objectives.
- Evaluates effectiveness of projects after implementation; compiles and analyzes feedback from various internal areas and outside vendors, develops recommendations as appropriate and incorporates changes into future project plans.
- Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Scope of Responsibilities:
The M&T Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of M&T Bank, is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 1993 and funded by M&T Bank. The M&T Charitable Foundation awards nearly $40 million in grants per year to thousands of nonprofit organizations focused on improving the quality of life in the areas the bank serves.
The position entails extensive contact with internal and external personnel.

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' related experience in a field-based role with Community Relations, Foundation and/or philanthropic giving experience or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum 5 years' related experience in a field-based role with Community Relations, Foundation and/or philanthropic giving experience.
Knowledge of current trends and environment in philanthropic giving and IRS rules.
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with Bank executives to influence and achieve philanthropic goals and objectives.
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Ability to travel extensively within designated regions.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $103,826.43 - $173,044.05 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
