The Bluegrass Challenge Academy is hiring a
Charge Nurse that is responsible for managing or supervising allmedical services within a Youth Challenge program within the Commonwealth of Kentucky including all shifts andcontract medical support.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise and/or conduct sick call operations, medication storage and distribution, schedule and transportcadets to external medical appointments.
- Maintain appropriate medical records.
- Identify and implement medical policy regarding enforcement of state and/or federal laws, rules andregulations.
- Recommend staffing to provide effective and efficient health services.
- Coordinate medication supply with parents and pharmacy, coordinate insurance and medical billing activities,discuss injuries/medications/changes in wellness with family and doctors.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of three or more full and part time staff, including contracttherapist and medical doctor.
- Maintain pay documents on all personnel.
- Monitor medication distribution records, conduct validation inventories, and excess medication destructionas required.
- Maintain OTC(over the counter) inventory of necessary items for shelf stock.
- Performs all required drug screening activities within the Academy.
- Ensure quality screening devices are used and results accurately recorded.
- A primary member of the Academy Management Team.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:See Special Requirements.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
