Character Animator (Roblox)

Orange Comet is on the lookout for a talented Character Animator to join our creative team. As a Character Animator at Orange Comet, you will play a vital role in bringing our virtual worlds to life by giving personality and emotion to our characters. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the art and design teams to create captivating character animations that enhance the narrative and gameplay.
• Animate characters with a focus on conveying emotions, movement, and personality through expressive and believable performances.
• Rig characters for animation and ensure they are optimized for real-time rendering on various platforms.
• Work closely with motion capture data and hand-key animations to achieve desired character movements and behaviors.
• Iterate on animations based on feedback from the creative team, directors, and playtesting results.
• Maintain a strong understanding of character development and storytelling principles.
• Stay updated with industry trends, animation techniques, and emerging tools to improve animation quality.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Character Animator in the gaming or entertainment industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard animation software (e.g., Maya, Blender, Roblox Studio).
• Strong understanding of character rigging and animation principles.
• Ability to create both stylized and realistic character animations.
• Detail-oriented with a keen eye for character performance and storytelling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion for gaming and a desire to contribute to the creation of immersive virtual worlds.

Nice to have:

• Experience working on real-time multiplayer games.
• Familiarity with Roblox gaming concepts and technologies.
• Knowledge of facial animation and lip syncing.
• Familiarity with motion capture processes and tools.
• A portfolio showcasing a range of character animations in real-time games.
• Experience with real-time combat animation

Additional Information:

The base salary range for a full-time position is $60,000-$90,000 USD + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
