Job Description
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for ensuring that welding operations are of high quality and meet the required industry standards. They inspect dimensions of steel fabrications after fitting before fully welding. They inspect completed welds for compliance to weld standards.
Essential Functions
- Verifying dimensional fit up of welded structures
- Inspecting and assessing the strength and quality of welds
- Ensuring the correct equipment is being used
- Checking weld specifications
- Ensuring all safety regulations are being adhered to
- Reviewing welding procedures
- Maintaining accurate records of welding activities
- Managing Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) and Certified Associate Welding Inspectors (CAWI).
Minimum Qualifications
- Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification
- 4 or more years experience in related position preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Excel and Teams
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to manage time and resources
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
