We currently have an open position for a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. This is an hourly, non-exempt full-time position.
The Center for Family Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in Jackson, Michigan. We are a multi-specialty clinic with practitioners specializing in the areas of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Ob/Gyn. Our agency has expanded greatly over the years and now has our medical, dental, pharmacy and support services as well as four school-based health centers in the Jackson area. Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, functionality and inventory of instrumentation and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.
- Manually clean equipment and instruments, removing waste matter prior to Sterile Processing.
- Sterilize instrumentation and equipment through a series of critical steps as appropriate.
- Examine equipment and instruments meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Distribute sterilized instrumentation and equipment to designated storage area
- Maintain sterilization room equipment per manufacturer's instructions for use.
- Test sterilization equipment to identify any issues or problems. Immediately report any discrepancies to the dental supervisor and dental director.
- Maintain records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
- Control the inventory of products used in the sterilization room, including checking expiration dates and notifying supervisor of the need to reorder supplies in a timely manner.
- Implement infection control practices to ensure that patients are not exposed to infectious substances(materials?).
Education/Training/Experience
- A High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Sterile Processing from an accredited institution.
