Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (PRN)
Voyages Behavioral Health of Conroe
The Certified Recreational therapist plans, directs, and coordinates recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses. These therapists use a variety of modalities, including arts and crafts; drama, music, and dance; sports and games; aquatics; and community outings to help maintain or improve a patient’s physical, social, and emotional well-being.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess patients’ needs
- Develop treatment plans and programs
- Plan and implement interventions
- Engage patients in therapeutic activities
- Help patients learn social skills needed to become or remain independent
- Teach patients about ways to cope with stress, anxiety, or depression
- Document and analyze a patient’s progress
- Evaluate interventions for effectiveness
REQUIREMENTS:
- Certified Recreational Therapist in the State of Texas
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- BLS Certified through AHA or American Red Cross
- Crisis Management Certification per hospital standards
- Experience in Music, Art Therapy
Experience: Two years’ experience as a Recreational Therapist in rehab activities or a similar setting strongly preferred.
