POSITION SUMMARY:
To help individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life by being an effective team member and consultant to peers with challenges with substance abuse. To utilize a variety of approaches and interventions to promote recovery within a site based program as well as provide successful community integration experiences. Provide individualized support and skill teaching in the community and clinic to promote skill building and new role development. Assist individuals in meeting goals in an effort to recover from alcohol abuse, opioid abuse, or any other substance abuse though individual and group sessions.
1. Provide support and education about the recovery process to families, friends, allies and others who present in clinic.
2. Provide opportunities for telephone peer support to persons experiencing challenges with substance use to provide ongoing supportive care to families, friends, and allies.
3. Effectively communicate appropriate resources, supports and services to those calling as they request this information.
4. Observe boundary management guidance and make adjustments as needed or recommended by Behavioral Health Manager.
5. Research supports and services available across Georgia for individuals who are using or misusing substances and to their families, friends and allies.
6. Consult and collaborate with all team members including psychiatrist, Substance Abuse Counselors, and Behavioral Health Manager on a regular basis
7. With the individual's consent, engage family members, or other members of the individual's identified support system
8. Assist individuals in gaining access and linkage to needed psychiatric, medical, social, residential, financial and other services appropriate for the individual
9. Develop a graduation plan with assigned individuals as appropriate including linkages to clinical and support services
10. Participate in quality improvement and data gathering and reporting as assigned
