Overview: As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), your role is vital in supporting Occupational Therapists (OTs) to provide effective therapy treatments. Your focus is on improving patients’ mobility, physical health, and overall well-being. Here are the key duties and qualifications for this role:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treatment Assistance:
- Collaborate with OTs to implement treatment plans.
- Monitor patients’ progress during therapy sessions.
- Encourage and motivate patients throughout their recovery process.
- Help patients perform exercises and therapeutic activities.
- Quality of Life Enhancement:
- Find practical solutions to improve patients’ quality of life.
- Assist injured individuals in enhancing motor skills for re-entering the workforce.
- Teach patients with disabilities to become more independent.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Maintain accurate patient records for the OT.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and caregivers.
- Provide education on skills and techniques related to the treatment program.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Ability to assess patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Familiarity with Occupational Therapy principles and techniques.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct Occupational Therapy evaluations as part of the assessment process.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support team members to develop individualized educational goals.
- Implement goals and objectives from the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
