A certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is defined as a person licensed by the Georgia State Board of Occupational Therapy to assist an Occupational Therapist in the delivery of treatment to patients with impairment in functional status in daily living skills following a disability, disease, or illness. The person in this position provides services to the following populations: Infant Neonates (Birth to one year). Toddler (One to three years old). Pre-schoolers (Three to five years old). School-age children (Five to eleven years old). Adolescents (Eleven to eighteen years old). Adults (Eighteen to seventy-five years old). Geriatrics (Seventy-five years and older).
Education
Associate Degree or 2 years of college coursework
Experience
One year of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
Licenses & Certifications
*OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT
Qualifications
*BCLS Certified.
*Comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy treatment procedures.
*Graduate of an educational program that prepares certified Occupational Therapist Assistants and which is accredited by a recognized accrediting agency and approved by the State Board of Occupational Therapy.
*Licensure by the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Occupational Therapy.
