Description

Certified Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator - Part-Time

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the activities of his/her program which are necessary for maintaining excellent instructors, appropriate curriculum as is relates to lab environments, and professional customer service to our students. Serves as an expert in the occupational area. The effectiveness of the Program Coordinator will be evaluated for regulatory compliance as well as student and faculty retention, student satisfaction, licensing pass rate, and graduate employability.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Attains, maintains, and increases signed clinical affiliations.
  • With the leadership team, completes applications and reporting materials for the Colorado Board of Nursing and the Department of Private Occupational Schools.
  • With the leadership team attends meetings as needed in Denver for the Colorado Board of Nursing and the Department of Private Occupational Schools.
  • Participates in the departmental budget, streamlines orders and provides input on expenses needed for upcoming year's budget.
  • Assists in the training and orientation of new instructors.
  • Provide frequent performance feedback to program Instructors.
  • Serves as first line substitute. Instructs classes or clinicals as needed.
  • Reviews lesson plans and syllabus and makes recommendations to the Director of Education.
  • Coordinates Program Advisory meetings in compliance with the Department of Private Occupational Schools and the Colorado Board Nursing regulations.
  • Facilitate regularly scheduled department meetings with instructors. Document meetings through agendas, attendance, and meeting minutes.
  • Ensures guest speakers and field trips are coordinated in advance.
  • Works with Instructors and Director of Education in the retention efforts of the college.
  • Responsible for submitting orders to the Registrar for books, supplies, tools and uniforms in a timely manner.
  • Ensures Instructors are current with professional growth development in accordance with BON and DPOS criteria.
  • Solves any issues that arise in the program and communicates with campus leadership if support is needed.
  • Make recommendations for department policies, practices, and programs to the campus leadership.
  • Participate in personal growth and continuing education.
  • Maintain and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Maintain lab areas according to OSHA, BON, and DPOS regulations as applicable.
 
  • Generate customer service activities the goal of which is to drive student satisfaction above 90%.
  • Coordinate and monitor student certification exams for the goal of 100% pass rate.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Education to discuss with instructors’ data gathered from student surveys.
  • Identify program specific professional growth activates to ensure continued competency of assigned faculty. Ensure actives are adequate documented in the Faculty Personnel Report.
  •   Manage the externship process (where applicable) to include:
    • Placement of externs
    • Developing new sites
    • Conducting on pre-extern meeting for assigned program.
    • Visiting each site on a regularly scheduled basis
    • Documenting visits and expenses
    • Performing weekly extern meeting with students
    • Updating extern packets as required
    • Submitting grades for externs on a timely basis
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: at least 2 years of nursing experience in caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill of any age of which at least 1 year must be in the provision of services in a long-term care facility. Have completed a course in teaching adults or have documented experience in teaching adults or have 1-year experience in managing nurse aides.

Working Hours: Minimum of 10 hours per week.

Education:  Minimal requirements to meet credentialing criteria and the appropriate level of degree according to the State of Colorado (DPOS) and ACCSC standards.  Education equivalent to the program credential.

Experience:  One year of teaching/training experience.

License(s)/Certification(s):  Active unencumbered professional nursing license.
