A Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting Registered Nurses in treating patients throughout the hospital under the direct supervision of licensed staff. The CNA will perform routine patient care duties, provides a safe and therapeutic environment and assists in the admission, provision of patient care, discharge and transfer of patients.
- Effectively keeps clinical/administrative areas safe, clean and neat to maintain a structured environment, while communicating with patients about their needs.
- Performs tasks such as responding to call lights, feeding, bathing, preparing patients for transfers along with utilizing the language line when applicable.
- Performs and documents direct patient care tasks such as assistance with personal care and other activities of daily living.
- Provides a safe, clean environment to maintain a structured and therapeutic environment.
- Participates in the development and ongoing review of the patient’s treatment plan and progress towards goals.
- Provides one-on-one assistance with patients on an as needed basis.
- Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of a patient to professional personnel (and if applicable document).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints and in difficult situations.
Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Phlebotomy after appropriate verification of skill competency is established.
Other Responsibilities:
- Adheres to downtime procedures.
- Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
- Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- CNA Certification, along with CPR
