Responsibilities
Purpose: Responsible for performing direct patient care and performing other duties deemed necessary to ensure quality patient care under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse.
Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):
- Support the mission, vision, and core values of the
- Following and completing assignments as given by the charge
- Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- Reporting changes in the patient's condition to the charge
- Participating in the orientation of the new nursing staff to the
- Following out nursing care functions:
- Ensuring the patient's hands/face are clean after
- Ensuring that patients are appropriately dressed, including mealtime and that clothes are not twisted and bunched.
- Verbally cueing/encouraging patients to be independent when assisting in ADL's.
- Ensuring that males are shave daily and females as
- Ensuring that pericare is given after every incontinence
- Ensuring that patients with pressure ulcers are properly positioned and regularly
- Ensuring that patients who are unable to call for help are checked
- Ensuring that patients are
- Ensuring that oral cares are
- Ensuring that nails are
- Ensuring that patient's plan of care is
- Recording all information correctly and accurately in patient's
- Ensuring that patient rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary
- Ensuring that you assigned work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary
- Following established handwashing techniques in the administrating of patient care
- Following established universal precautions in the use of gloves, gowns, and/or
- Ensuring that daily and weekly cleaning schedules are
- Ensuring that call light is within reach of patients and that all call lights are answered
- Using safety equipment and supplies (gait belts, mechanical lifts, ) when lifting or moving patients.
- Ensuring that patient's soiled clothes are bagged and placed in appropriate laundry
- Ensuring that dirty linen is not placed on the
- Recognizing patient's right to choose options for own health care and serves as a patient
- Being respectful of other's space and privacy; knocking before entering the
- Treating patients and families with fairness and
- Explaining and asking permission before handling a patient or performing a
- Responding to patient's complaints and requests in an appropriate and timely
- Caring for patient's personal possessions and
- Restock utility and treatment rooms As Needed, and check outdates of supplies responsible
- Check number of IV pumps in facility
- Managing personal stress and emotions so as not to interfere in relationships and interactions with others.
Qualifications
- Must be in good standing on the Nurse Aid
- Level II Nursing Assistant Course
- Must be able to read, write, and understand the English
- Must be certified in or willing to become certified in appropriate BLS
- Must have or complete Dependent Adult/Child abuse mandatory reporter
- Must have or willing to learn computer
