CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT - MULTIPLE LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT PRINCE GEOREGES COUNTY
The Certified Nursing assistant provides personal care and related services in the home. He/she functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the staff nurse and the Director of Nursing and/or appropriate supervisor.
Responsibilities:
Tasks to be performed by a CNA must be assigned by and performed under the supervision of a RN/LPN who will be responsible for the client care provided by the CNA. Under no circumstances may a CNA be assigned to any responsibilities related to any intravenous procedures, procedures involving the use of feeding tubes or Foley catheters, or any other sterile or invasive procedures, other than rectal temperatures or enemas. Except as otherwise noted, duties of the CNA may include:
- Assists client with Activities of Daily Living
- Helps the client to maintain good personal hygiene including bathing, dressing grooming and oral hygiene.
- Assist in maintaining a healthful, safe environment.
- Mobility, transferring, ambulation and access to the outdoors when appropriate.
- Toileting
- Dressing and clean, weather appropriate clothing.
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living- Light housekeeping and home management of the client’s living area.
- Plans and prepares nutritious meals.
- Grocery shopping as indicated in the nursing plan of care.
Assists in maintaining a healthful, safe environment.- Follows the nursing plan of care.
- Encourages the client to become as independent as possible according to the nursing plan of care.
- Attempts to promote the client’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
- Gives simple emotional and psychological support to the client and other members of the family.
- Records completion of assigned tasks according to company policy.
- Attends in-service training as required by state and federal regulations.
- Confirms on a weekly basis, the scheduling of visits with the Scheduling Coordinator, to coordinate necessary visit with other personnel.
- Notifies the Agency of absences due to illness, emergency leave, normal vacation periods or special professional meetings which will not affect agreed service with the Agency.
Organizational Relationship:
- The CNA reports directly to the Supervising Nurse for individual care and Regional Director for overall job performance issues.
Functional Abilities:
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the position.
- Able to physically perform the duties of the position, including sitting or standing for up to two (2) hours and the ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 ponds.
- Able to travel to prospective clients’ residences.
This position carries a HIGH RISK of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material per OSHA standards.

Qualifications:
- Active unrestricted license to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Maryland
- Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements with requirements.
- Satisfactory performance on a competency evaluation an annual reevaluation
- Completion of one (1) year’s employment as a nurse’s aide in a hospital or health care facility preferred.
- Has the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, clients’ family, and the personnel of the Agency.
- Has a reliable means of transportation.
