St. Elizabeth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is currently seeking a Certified Medicine Aide who will be responsible for dispensing of oral, topical and suppositional medication under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse and in conformance with recognized standards established by a Certified Medicine Aide program. The Medicine Aide will function as a certified Nursing Assistant when need arises. The work schedule is Monday - Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm and every other weekend..
Catholic Charities of Baltimore, St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a 162-bed facility providing high quality long- and short-term nursing and rehabilitative care. Services include geriatric rehabilitation, long-term care, a 30-bed memory care program, Hospice program, and a full recreational program.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and administers all oral, topical and suppositional medications under supervision of a Licensed Nurse. Utilizes
the St. Elizabeth policy and procedure for medication administration. - Records medications immediately after giving by initialing the medication Kardex.
- Notifies Charge Nurse of medications that need to be given by a Licensed Nurse.
- Performs apical pulse and documents rhythm as directed, and blood pressure as indicated. Notifies Charge Nurse of
changes in these measurements. - Demonstrates knowledge of the general use of medications being given, therapeutic action, usual dosage, precautions
contraindications, and side effects. - Charts accordingly in circumstances where medication is refused, dropped or spilled. Notifies Charge Nurse of same.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Active Maryland CMA license
- CPR Certification is required
- Must possess a license to distribute Medicine in an extended care facility in Maryland.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) lbs. with or without accommodation.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthesis that will enable these senses to function.
- Obtains annual PPD and meets other regulatory requirements.
