Job Title: Lead Certified Medical Coder

Job Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:30-5:00
General Summary: A nonexempt position responsible for converting physician documentation to CPT and ICD-10 codes for billing purposes.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Code physician services for all encounters and procedures performed in the office, outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Assign and post appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes using various resources.
- Resolve coding-related claim denials and write appeal letters.
- Interact with providers and clinical staff on coding and documentation questions.
- Answer coding/billing questions from patients, internal staff and outside offices.
- Act as a resource for other coding staff.
- Assign coding tasks to team members to ensure timely claim submission.
- Investigate coding related issues to find guidance and best practice.
- Review registration for all of the manually posted charges.
- Complete coding audits.
- Implement and update policies and procedures related to coding processes.
- Monitor the time and attendance of coding staff.
- Participate in the hiring of new coders.
- Train new coders.
- Facilitating monthly business office meetings along with billing lead.
- Hold the coding staff accountable to organizational goals.
- Participate in annual reviews for coding team.
- Present provider education and training on documentation requirements.
- Support and assist practice administration and physicians as needed.
- Attend webinars, workshops, and seminars to keep up with coding guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education: Certification by AAPC accredited coding program and ICD-10 certification is required.
Experience: Certified professional coder with 5+ years of experience.
Other Requirements: Must maintain coding certification by means of continuing education.

Systems Used: Epic Professional Billing, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word.
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculators, etc.
Work Environment: Remote after training in person in office along with monthly in office team meetings.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
