Essential Functions:
The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for the care of injured athletes. Assesses, treats, instructs athletes with movement dysfunction and physical disability caused by pain or injury under the direction of a physician. Administers immediate first aid care and develops a treatment program based on the nature of the injury, including follow-up with a physician when appropriate. Communicates health care information with the athlete, caregiver, coach, school administrator, Sports Medicine management team, and physician as necessary. The Certified Athletic Trainer will be responsible for any other assigned job duties and will be asked to demonstrate actions with LCMC's Values and Mission
Onsite Care and Program Application: Assesses, examines, and treats athletes with appropriate diagnoses according to the Athletic Training (AT) scope of practice including the organization's set standards. Provides education to patients, caregivers, coaches, etc. regarding athletic injuries and care. Maintains records and necessary documentation in accordance to the state practice act and national standards. Implements a program for Emergency Action Planning (EAP), documentation, and training. Facilitates the overall safety of patients to include prevention, practice and event coverage, injury evaluation, physician referral, activating Emergency Action Plan (EAP), treatment and rehabilitation. Maintain professional relationships with physician partners and related interest within the organization and medical community. Maintain confidentiality in all matters to include patient care, physician, and employee matters. Proficient communication with athletes, coaches, school administrators, caregivers, physicians and Sports Medicine staff. Follows all organizational protocols and injury management procedures within scope of practice and State practice act. Resolves and manages patient and customer complaints including requests for service quickly and courteously. Cultivates relationships with stakeholders in order to facilitate growth of the Sports Medicine program.
Professional Responsibility: Responsible for own growth and development through in-services, required programs, in-house education, and continuing education. Allocate work time effectively to make efficient use of resources and capabilities. Anticipate and accommodate work schedule for seasonal changes. Maintain professional certifications and licensure. Participates in program educational efforts both internally and externally. Proactively seeks opportunity for skill development according to assigned job roles. Meets program expectations and program standards.
Research, Education, Training and Special Projects: Adheres to program strategic goals for visibility and identification of growth opportunities in the market. This includes wearing logos, ensuring marketing items are strategically placed, and identifying additional marketing opportunities. Provides education to patients, caregivers, coaches, etc. regarding athletic injuries and care.
Operational Resource Stewardship: Stewards budget and allocation of resources. Effectively supports decreased PRN and overtime use. Evaluate and justify equipment and supply needs. Allocates resources and manages budget effectively. Monitor inventory of all athletic training room supplies.
Growth and Relationship Building: Support overall strategic goals of LCMC Sports Medicine initiatives which include expanding and growing the brand to be the recognized market leader. Play an integral role in strategic program development via relationship building and program representation in the community. Maintains and adheres to state and national regulations and support education for our partner organizations. Ensures that the LCMC Sports Medicine Brand is seen in a favorable light and is attentive to customer's needs. Ensures all expectations of our partners are met.
Technology Infrastructure: Effectively implement all data tracking systems. Ensures all data capturing reporting is thoroughly completed as assigned. Works on special projects as requested by the Sports Medicine management team. Administers the ImPACT neurocognitive concussion testing program.
Job Qualifications:

  • Experience- 1 year experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
  • Education- Bachelors Degree required; Masters Degree preferred.
  • Licensure- National BOC Certified Athletic Trainer required, State Licensed Athletic Trainer through LSBME required, Basic Life Support from American Heart Association (CPR) required.
