Job Summary and QualificationsAs the Central Sterile Supervisor you will assist with the day-to-day management of the department functions including but not limited to workflow, call-in, scheduling and quality process within the department. As the Supervisor, you will lead and direct the work of others by setting high performance standards and delivering quality services in an accurate and timely manner.
- You will supervise staff to ensure the decontamination, preparation and sterilization of instrumentation for the Surgery Department and various Nursing Departments
- You will be knowledgeable of infection control and sterilization practices
- You will perform efficient decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment, and inspect and assemble surgical instruments, equipment, trays, and packs according to prescribed protocols and industry standards for aseptic technique
- You will work with the manager to establish department goals and objectives and assume responsibility for implementation and monitoring
- You will proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources
- You will ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures
- You will assist in interviewing, hiring, counseling and evaluating Sterile Processing personnel with managerial support
Job Requirements
Experience
- 3 years of experience in Materials Management or Sterile Processing OR 5 years of experience in other forms of healthcare delivery working with instrumentation and infection control procedures
Education
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education
- Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program
- 1 year of college level courses in a related field - preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Sterile Processing certification with the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within six months of hire
- Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) - preferred
