Provide shipping, receiving, mailing and copying functions for Hennepin Technical College.
Specific Duties Include:
  • Manage mailroom services for the College to ensure all outgoing mail is properly metered; track program expenditures and accurately report to accounting staff monthly; maintain postage machines, identify any problems and address them timely; maintain supplies; monitor available money on meters to ensure continuous use; sort and distribute U.S. incoming mail, inter-office mail and off-campus mail.
  • Manage copying services for the College to ensure materials are copied in a confidential and timely manner for administration, faculty and staff; ensure proper inventory of material is on hand and available; fill and deliver paper requests; identify problems with machines and address repairs as needed with IT.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the facility department
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)

  • Knowledge of English sufficient to speak, read, understand, and respond to a variety of written and spoken communications, such as customer's requests, product catalogs, purchase orders, machine manuals, inventory records and distribution lists.
  • Different types of office machines and programs to offer copying services to faculty, staff and administration.
  • Shipping and receiving functions, including mail, small and large shipment vendors and web-based programs sufficient to provide shipment solutions to customers.
  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in office services sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
  • Math skills sufficient to calculate program charges (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.)
  • Data entry skills sufficient to enter data into spreadsheets, word documents, and procurement system.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as moving materials; stacking and retrieving materials; standing for 60% of the day with frequent bending; and unload and sort items weighing up to 40 pounds during receiving.
  • Valid driver's license.

Ability to:
  • Follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
  • Keep simple records.
  • Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of related work experience operating and maintaining various copying and mailroom equipment such as multifunction copiers, mail metering machines, and procurement system for receiving functions. Knowledge of other equipment such as fork lift.
