The Center for Housing and Health (CHH) Vice President of Finance is responsible for all finance, accounting and reporting activities of CHH. The VP of Finance will report to and work closely with the Executive Director as well as the Chief Financial Officer of CHH's parent organization, AIDS Foundation Chicago. The position will develop forecasts for future business growth with a focus on earned income ventures like the Flexible Housing Pool. The CHH VP will partner with the senior leadership team and board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. The VP will lead development of the annual organizational budget. CHH is a separate 501(c)3 organization that is a subsidiary of AIDS Foundation Chicago. Working closely with the Executive Director the position will promote coordination, cooperation, and excellent customer service.

The salary range for this role is $114,000 to $134,000 annually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with AFC's Chief Financial Officer to lead fiscal and regulatory management of the organization and ensure financial operations comply with federal and state laws

Be the lead for fiscal management of the Flexible Housing Pool (FHP) and other earned income ventures

Work with FHP staff in the development of financial models to support the preparation of financial forecasts

Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits for new business opportunities and due diligence requests

Participate in the annual budget process; work with the CFO, the Accounting team, and Department heads to prepare and present operating plan/budget for Board approval

Support ED/CFO with Departmental strategic planning and execution

Consistently analyze financial data and keep senior leadership abreast of CHH's financial status

Monitor cash flow and provide cash flow projections to meet the organization's needs

Monitor banking activities of the organization and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions

Perform quality control analyses on source program and financial data as necessary

Assist with annual Single Audits

Prepare for and participate in fiscal site visits conducted by Funders

Collaborate with other CHH staff and partner agencies to develop and implement internal and external program monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance activities

Ensure sub-contractor fiscal site visits to monitor compliance with fiscal and administrative contractual requirements as needed

Support CHH/AFC's Racial Equity Action Plan goals and facilitate organization-wide engagement

Collaborate with CHH senior leadership to create, develop, and carry out the agency's strategic plan

Collaborate with program leads to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations

Participate in developing new business, specifically: assist the ED and VP of CHH Strategy in identifying new business opportunities, conducting cost benefit analyses of prospective service

delivery, contributing to development of prospective service delivery pricing models for both AFC and external service providers

Communicate and advocate with CHH's public funders as needed

Attend Board of Directors meetings, including being the lead staff on the Finance Committee

Foster coordination across organization team teams as well as other AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) departments

Establish and implement policies that promote collaboration, racial justice and advance the organizational vision

Staff Mentorship

Hire, train, mentor, and supervise assigned staff; assist in the recruitment and selection of team staff; create scheduling and job assignments; manage performance and, complete and communicate performance evaluations; recommend salary, disciplinary, and other personnel actions in accordance with personnel policies and procedures

Provide supervision and adequate resources to staff, volunteers, and/or interns

Lead and coach staff to encourage professional and personal growth

Establish expectations and provide direction and consultation in meeting expectations, facilitate team meetings, and ensure departmental participation in the performance review process

Other

Assist with agency-wide activities as directed, including Annual Meeting, AIDS Run & Walk, World of Chocolate and others

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Protect organization's value and manage risk by keeping information confidential

Perform other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field

6 or more years of accounting experience

Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance

8 or more years of not-for-profit accounting experience.

Experience with Blackbaud's Financial Edge fund accounting software

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment is representative of that found in a general office environment. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 10 pounds.) Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and on the telephone.
