Overview
The Census/Billing Team Lead is a subject matter expert (SME) on the company's Census and Billing practices, internal databases, reporting tools, and policies and procedures. The Team Lead is a SME on all functions performed by both Census Associates I & II and Billing Associates I & II and acts as a trainer and mentor to both. Responsible for ensuring census updates reported are processed timely and accurately, charges are entered timely and accurately, and that all necessary procedures are completed prior to invoicing, and statements are finalized, in accordance with contract and PharMerica's Client Billing Services Policies and Procedures.
This is not a remote position. Applicants must be commutable to Longmont, CO.
Responsibilities
• Provides initial support to associates through training and answering questions on policies and procedures.
• Provides support to staff and acts as a mentor/coach to promote a positive environment.
• Perform quality assessments on staff to ensure accuracy and that actions taken are within accordance with contract and policies. Provide feedback and coaching to staff. Report any identified training needs to Supervisor and Manager for further review and follow-up action plan, as needed.
• Provides the necessary re-training or one-on-one support with staff to assist in meeting the performance expectations.
• Provides feedback on all levels of staff to Supervisor to be used in employee's one-on-ones, check-ups, and reviews.
• Identify staff performance issues and discuss with Supervisor.
• Assists in managing balanced workload and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Responsible to maintain the data integrity of alternate databases, including but not limited to Payer Code crosswalks, bed/room stations, facility specific details (i.e. Hierarchy Tool, Census Tracker, Share site).
• Reviews variances and write-offs submitted by staff for accuracy of information and approval requirements before giving to Supervisor for approval.
• Interprets contract documents to ensure billing is performed in compliance with all contract terms.
• Processes changes in information systems to support accurate and efficient billing process and financial close.
• Facilitates and ensures accurately and timely billing of services and fees to facility clients.
• Completes interim statement review to ensure charges are accurate.
• Participate in month-end closing and audits as necessary.
• Completes investigation of inquiries on billed charges and acts in accordance with contract and policy.
• Provides customer support via phone or electronic communications.
• Works with Management team in researching items requiring special attention.
• Works with Management team on special projects, as needed.
• Takes initiative to find opportunities and make suggestions for process improvement within the department.
• Foster unity and team success through the sharing of knowledge, mentoring new associates, and helping others successfully meet deadlines and objectives.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
• Education/Learning Experience
• Required: High School graduate, GED or equivalent experience
• Desired: 2 year degree
• Work Experience
• Required: 3 years Billing and/or Collections experience; excellent oral and written communication skills; Team leadership skills; must be capable and willing to train and/or mentor others.
• Desired: Billing or Collections experience in the healthcare industry; AS400 computer experience
• Skills/Knowledge
• Required: Basic computer knowledge, Data Entry, MS Excel and Word, ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Desired: Medical Billing and Coding
