Growing engineering firm is looking for a Resident Engineer / Construction Inspector to inspect water mains in the City of Chicago.
Over the next decade, the City of Chicago will replace 900 miles of water main, replace or reline 760 miles of sewer pipes, line 160,000 catch basins, and renew 12 pumping stations and 2 purification plants. The primary responsibilities of the Construction Inspector will be in the City of Chicago and inspecting the water mains.
Duties Include:
- On-site observation of construction, repairs, and testing. Ensuring construction follows approved plans and specifications
- Working with contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents
- Record keeping of contractor's progress in format required by local agencies
- Interacting with public/customers affected by construction
- Reading specifications and project drawings
- Recording field quantities
- Reviewing contractor pay applications
- Resolve on-site construction issues
- Work with project manager to prepare change orders
Qualifications:
- 5 plus years of experience in construction industry
- Minimum 3 years of experience inspecting underground utilities
- IDOT or CDOT certifications for construction inspection items
- IDOT documentation class
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Must be well versed with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have your own transportation to travel from jobsite to jobsite
- Valid drivers license
