JOB DESCRIPTION
Position
I. OVERVIEW/PURPOSE
Oiler/Tanker truck drivers must be capable of: (a) transporting fuel to and from construction and job sites, and (b) using such materials to administer fuel to all construction equipment and vehicles, including but not limited to, heavy trucks, motor graders, dozers, rollers, back hoe/excavators, scrapers/pans and broom tractors.
II. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMNETS
· Possession of a valid and current Florida Class B commercial driver’s license, at a minimum, with hazardous materials and tanker endorsement.
· Possession of a valid DOT physical examination card or the ability to pass a DOT examination.
· Driving history must meet underwriting requirements of the company’s automobile/truckers’ liability insurance carrier.
· Ability to comply with other DOT regulatory requirements.
· Adequate range of motion and peripheral vision necessary for safe and effective operation of a vehicle.
· Completion of pre-trip inspection reports as required by law.
· Ability to operate a oiler/tanker truck equipped with manual transmission and power steering on open highways, unpaved and uneven construction sites, in populated areas and in congested traffic environments.
· Ability to maneuver the oiler/tanker truck in various close-quarter areas, including but not limited to, congested equipment parking areas and storage areas adjacent to high-speed traffic zones along roadways.
· Adequate range of motion and ability to pull and operate service island hoses.
· Adequate range of motion and ability to lift and pull 20-to-30-pound fuel hose.
· Ability to climb in and out of various equipment and vehicles using hand holds, footsteps and other areas as necessary.
· Adequate range of motion and ability to climb on, and in heavy construction equipment and other vehicles, including necessary bending, stooping, kneeling, turning, crawling and climbing as necessary.
· Ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and parts in confined spaces.
· Ability to pull, operate and hold in place fill hoses over uneven ground while completing necessary service and operations to vehicles.
· Ability to complete and record fuel logs, inspection reports, repair logs, DOT reports and other information required by law.
· Cataloging or reporting work performed each day.
· Ability to understand and distinguish road signs, directions, road maps, fuel logs, inspection reports and other necessary information.
· Ability to effectively communicate with other workers at and around job sites.
· Ability to walk and maneuver on even and uneven surfaces at plant and construction sites.
· Ability to withstand various environmental conditions, including but not limited to, normal summer outside temperatures with a heat index occasionally in excess of 100 degrees, the combined effect of heat and humidity during outside summer work, possible low winter outside temperatures, and routine rain.
· Ability to withstand various airborne particles located at outside construction sites, including dust and pollen.
· Ability to withstand various gases, vapors, and fumes within acceptable OSHA/EPA limits produced by construction equipment, solvents and asphalt located at outside construction sites.
· Ability to withstand various skin irritants within acceptable OSHA/EPA limits associated and used in and around service vehicles and other equipment, including but not limited to, petroleum products, fuels, lubricants, degreasers, solvents and battery acids.
· Ability to perform and timely and productively execute tasks and assignments.
· Ability to meet weekly attendance requirements, averaging 8 to 10 hours per day with normal start and stop times varying with job site needs.
· Ability to meet other attendance requirements, including overtime hours, weekend work, holiday work, night work and shift assignments as necessary.
· Ability to work effectively with fellow workers and the public.
· Ability to withstand loud and continuous noises from various construction equipment within acceptable OSHA limits.
· Use of personal protective equipment including hard hats, eye wear and hearing protectors as necessitated by law, job site conditions or company safety policy.
· Ability to maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition.
III. MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to shovel, sweep, spray and clean out excess material from the bedof the truck.
· Vehicle refueling.
· Ability to change vehicle tires as required, both at the company shop or in-field.
· Ability to perform small repairs to the service vehicle.
· Occasional lifting up to 60 pounds.
· Attendance of staff / safety meetings.
· Completion of accident reports.
· Participation in accident review committees.

- Safely operate a tanker truck to transport and deliver various types of liquid cargo
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as pumps, hoses, and valves
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations for handling hazardous materials
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tanker truck and report any maintenance issues
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage
- Communicate with dispatch to receive delivery instructions and update on progress
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle
```Experience```
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a tanker driver or similar role
- Valid CDL with tanker endorsement
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past 3 years
- Familiarity with operating tractor-trailer combinations, dump trucks, forklifts, roll-off trucks, or refrigerated trailers is a plus
- Ability to safely load, unload, and secure cargo
- Strong communication skills to interact with dispatch, customers, and other drivers
