Cdl Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator

National Salvage & Service Corporation is an industry leading railroad contractor working in locations throughout the country. National handles millions of railroad ties every year and is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the tie processing facility in DeRidder, LA.

To be considered you MUST have a CDL-A along with previous experience operating a knuckle boom, log loader, or grapple.

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Picking up railroad ties, rail, and/or powerline poles using a rear mounted log loader boom
• Loading flatbeds or rail cars in a fast-paced environment
• Removing debris at sites using log loader boom while adhering to safety standards
• Filling out daily paperwork and working independently
• Operating skid steers and front-end loaders
• Hauling scrap ties to grinding facility
• Hauling wood chips from grinder to location for burning
• Filling out daily paperwork and time logs independently and accurately
• Collaboration with team members in a structured environment

Position-specific Competencies

• Able to work long hours in all weather conditions, ability to work some Saturdays
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Completely and accurately fill out daily paperwork
• Basic mechanical knowledge in order to make small repairs (change hydraulic hose, grease and lube, safety walk around inspection)
• Follow all Safety Programs, Policies, and Procedures
• Able to navigate the basic use of a smartphone
• CDL-A required
• Physical Requirements: Stand, Walk, Climb, Bend, Twist, Move Throughout the Day, Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements, walk on uneven terrain, Lift 50 pounds, and Exposed to Loud Noises. This is an Outdoor Position and you will be exposed to all weather elements.
