Job Description
NLR seeking reliable and experienced CDL Class A & B Drivers with a minimum of 3-years experience. The CDL Driver is responsible for providing a distinguishable level of service through courteous and expeditious customer pick-ups. The pre-assigned routes will require the collection of various container types of universal waste (lightbulbs, e-waste, batteries) from companies, universities, municipalities, property management portfolios to name a few, throughout Connecticut, New England, New York, New York City and New Jersey.
Essential Functions
- Exhibit a positive attitude towards company, customer and municipal goals.
- Performs Daily Pre and Post Trip inspections as set forth by NLR procedures and D.O.T.. guidelines.
- Maintain clean truck.
- Load Truck at customer location with or without assistance.
- Complete and maintain proper manifest and shipping documents.
- Secures loads with straps, tie downs and other means to ensure safe transport.
- Live Load product when necessary.
Job Requirements
- Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works.
- Requires a clean driving record.
- At least 3 years of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL within the past 5 (five) years.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
- Follow a designated refuse collection route or work schedule.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and communications.
- Maintain written records and service responses.
- Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and be able to make legible entries on paperwork.
Reasoning Ability
Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Works through problems and knows when to solicit assistance to achieve company goals and objectives.

2. Physically able to lift independently (unassisted) 50 pounds from the ground to waist height.
3. Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle.
4. Physically able to "tilt", "move", "unload" Steel Drum Truck/Dolly up to 700 lbs.
5. Physically able to bend at the waist and knees.
6. Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions? (heat, cold, rain and snow).
