Job purpose
The Driver Supervisor is a CDL-A working driver position that is responsible for transporting trailers, supervising a team of drivers, planning & coordinating the movements of interplant shipments, creating work schedules, managing vehicle repairs and maintenance and ensuring all staff are properly trained and uphold safety standards. Knowledge and enforcement of DOT Regulations and Compliance requirements is required.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for transporting, planning, coordinating and supervising all interplant transfers, drivers, equipment and record keeping
- Flexibility to adapt to team and department needs
- Promote Dock and Yard Safety
- Participate in recruitment, development, and retention of drivers
- Supervise and monitor drivers
- Create Drivers schedule and assign shifts
- Maintain all required records following Federal, State and Company requirements
- Work in accordance with all CDL A, DOT, HOS and Safety requirements
- Coordinate and manage vehicle repairs with approved vendors
- Coordinate fuel needs and preventative maintenance for vehicle fleet
- Regularly inspect all vehicles to ensure proper usage and care by Drivers
- Creating and refine SOPs and processes
- Implement tasks, create reports, assist with daily needs
- Assist management with evaluation of effectiveness and recommend alternatives for work methods, procedures to ensure efficient transfers
- Monitor Driver performance and compliance
- Ensure all Drivers meet current DOT regulations
- Responsible for Driver Drug and Alcohol Policy enforcement
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- - Class A CDL License with minimum of 7 year of verifiable Class A experience
- Minimum of 3 years' supervisor experience in a supervisor position
- At least 5 years of satisfactory driving history required
- Knowledge of DOT compliance regulations
- Self-motivated, responsible, and detail oriented, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- strong, positive leadership, communication, and organization skills
- PC skills: MS Word, Excel, etc.
- Bilingual skills preferred, not required (English, Spanish)
- Forklift Experience Preferred
- Past job performance must reflect dependability, maturity, initiative, positive personal demeanor, excellent listener, and the ability to exercise good judgement
Working conditions
- -Must be able to work any/all shifts as assigned or required
- -Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including Holidays and/or weekends as required
Physical requirements
- -Preshift stretch and exercises to be performed
- -Hair restraint, beard net (if needed), and Safety gloves where warranted
- -Must be able to sit for long periods of time while driving
- -Lifting at times of up to 50 lbs. without assistance and standing for most of a shift
