Position Summary:
Sovah Danville is seeking a Prn Cath Lab Technologist to perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks before, during and after cardiac catheterization and special procedures.
- Performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks before, during and after cardiac catheterization and special procedures.
- Primarily responsible for the care of patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
- Responsible for assisting will all procedures providing patient education, assessment and monitoring, and participating in performance improvement activities.
- Monitors hemodynamics, electrocardiograms, and waveform analysis.
- Participates in Quality Assurance and practices infection control policies.
- Assures appropriate orders are obtained and followed during the performance of all procedures.
- Assists the cardiologist in invasive procedures including cardiac catheterization, coronary interventions, diagnostic peripheral cases, and peripheral angioplasty.
- Assists physician in ICD insertions of temporary pacemakers, Swans-Ganz insertions, intra-aortic balloons, and implanting of permanent pacemakers.
- Accepts assignment of call rotation.
- Reviews patient history and physician's orders; verifies patient’s identification before performing any procedure.
- Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
- Prepares equipment and supplies; implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
- Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
- Graduate of a program in Radiology Technology required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required within 90 days of hire.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
- Must have previously demonstrated expertise in solving technical problems, organizing work and communication effectively with patients, family, nurses, physician and other employees.
- Previous clinical experience preferred.
