Position:Cath Lab Tech

Job Summary:
The Cath Lab Tech plays a vital role in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. This includes operating specialized equipment, preparing patients for procedures, and providing direct support to physicians during cardiac catheterization and other interventional procedures. Strong attention to detail, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Procedure Assistance:
- Assist physicians with cardiac catheterization and other interventional procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including obtaining consent and providing pre-procedure education.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate imaging and monitoring equipment used in cardiac catheterization and related procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and department protocols.
Patient Care:
- Monitor patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms during procedures.
- Provide support and reassurance to patients throughout procedures.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Document procedures, equipment settings, and patient information in the medical record.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and quality control.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols, including radiation safety measures, infection control, and emergency procedures.
- Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the medical team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Provide support and guidance to other staff members as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program (required).
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification or equivalent (preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
Experience:
- Previous experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory (preferred).
Skills:
- Strong technical and clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.
