Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) Cath Lab
A Cath Lab RN is one of the most crucial members of a cardiac patient's health care team. Important Cath Lab RN duties include:
Responsibilities:
Handling paperwork, like consent forms, and filing documents with patient records
Preparing for operations, which might require sterilization of the space and shaving the patient at the catheter insertion site
Monitoring patient vitals and sedation during and after operations to make sure patients don't have unexpected reactions
- Sharing discharge paperwork and care instructions with patients or their families
- Revising patient charts to add information about their operation
Skills:
- Be able to communicate effectively with the patients and with the healthcare team.
- Keep the environment sterile.
- Be able to make quick and effective decisions based on patient's best interest.
- Have sufficient knowledge of the field.
- Understand the medical equipment and operate it.
- Undergraduate Nursing degree (minimum)
- A valid registered nursing license
- Associates or bachelors degree in nursing from an acceptable and recognized institution
- knowledge and experience in clinical settings such as during operations and when dealing with patients in terms of communication and safety
