The Category Insights Manager performs a valuable role in building a strong partnership with customers by developing and implementing specific programs to deliver against shopper, category, company, and customer priorities. The Category Insights Manager is a strategic role accountable for translating the business strategies into commercial & operational marketing plans. He/she runs regular reviews with Segment Sales & Sector shopper Marketing/Consumer Insights and Syndicated Data teams to understand building blocks to deliver FY targets. He/she provides the direction for the brand in sync with a coherent commercial plan per channel/customer. He/she supports the sales teams in preparing or delivering meetings.
The role reports to the Director Insights & Analysis in Market, Strategy, and Planning organization.
- Pulse on the business:
- Organize weekly reporting on brand and commercial results, building blocks, and root causes.
- Ensure in depth ongoing analysis of what works and what doesn’t, identifying and proposing solutions.
- Regular, daily/weekly, reviews of Amazon.com and periodic in-store visits with sales executives and merchandising teams
- Strategize:
- Responsible for ensuring that Duracell Category value creation Business Model is applied, working, and understood both internally and externally.
- Help determine the key Brand KPIs and targets to be reached (market share, penetration, distribution, SKU mix & assortment choices, Planograms, Pricing, SRM, IMP & activities, ROI…) in line with the overall business objectives.
- Execute :
- Give support and guidance in the implementation and deployment of the commercial strategies.
- Together with Segment Sales executives and then with Sector Shopper Marketing/ Shopper Insights Sr Manager, discuss, agree, plan & implement monthly activities covering all the marketing mix elements.
- Anticipate activities needed to ensure all start on time with planned material and assets ready to go.
- Ongoing planning and tracking of spends.
- Run postmortem analysis on activities to drive learnings and continuously improve ROI.
- Leverage Shopper Marketing and Insights as well as Retail Media teams support for most efficient spends.
- Customers :
- Drive customer focus and intimacy, targeting preferred supplier status and category leadership role.
- Assist in preparation of message tracks, concept sells, presentations ahead of internal or external meetings.
- Track, analyze and anticipate competitive and private label activities with a view to find solutions for profitable category growth and share gain.
- Minimum of 5 years of Category Management experience, MUST have Amazon experience.
- Strong leadership, team player, excellent collaboration, highly proactive in a dynamic environment.
- Very analytical, accurate, resilient, resolute, problem-solving, and solutions-oriented skills.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Strong professional written & verbal communication, articulate and to the point. Strong presentation skills.
- Experience within Dollar Channel ideal while other channels also a plus
- Advanced MS Office, Amazon Vendor Central, and NielsenIQ with IRI/Circana and other customer portals a plus
- Deep knowledge of commercial strategies, consumer insights, market research, and eCommerce.
- Ability to travel to up to 10%
