We’re looking for a Category Analyst to analyze market data and provide insights on customers’ assortments, pricing, and promotional activities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, to help drive category growth and improve overall business performance. Your analytical skills and ability to interpret sales trends will play a crucial role in supporting decision-making processes within the organization. Additionally, you will work on sales planning, forecasting and related projects to support the sales team.


Key Job Functions

Data Analysis:

· Collect, analyze, and interpret market and sales data related to the assigned category.

· Identify patterns, trends, and opportunities to help improve product performance.

· Utilize statistical methods and software tools to conduct data analysis and generate insights.

Category & Customer Performance Evaluation:

· Assess the performance of products within the category, including sales, market share, and profitability.

· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reports to track category performance over time.

· Identify factors impacting category performance and recommend corrective actions.

Customer/Market Research:

· Conduct customer - market research to understand performance, behaviors, and emerging trends.

· Utilize consumer insights and syndicated market data to identify growth opportunities and develop strategies.

· Collaborate with marketing teams to develop targeted marketing campaigns and promotions.

Assortment Planning Review/Optimization:

· Collaborate with the innovation team to assess product portfolios and recommend assortment improvements.

· Conduct SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) analysis to identify high-performing and underperforming products.

· Develop recommendations for optimizing product assortment, including new product review, and discontinuations.

Pricing and Promotion Analysis:

· Analyze pricing strategies and their impact on sales and profitability.

· Evaluate promotional activities, such as discounts and coupons, and assess their effectiveness.

· Make recommendations for pricing adjustments and promotional strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

· Work closely with sales teams to understand customer requirements and develop strategies to meet their needs.

· Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels and ensure product availability.

· Provide analytical support to various departments and stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and finance.

Presentation and Reporting:

· Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.

· Develop comprehensive reports and dashboards to track category performance and provide actionable insights.

· Assists with other responsibilities and assignments, as deemed necessary by management.

Requirements:

In order to be successful, you will need:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Statistics, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

· Preferred 4 years experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CGP) industry in similar (developing) roles.

· Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in data analysis and statistical techniques.

· Working expertise on syndicated data and consumer panel analysis (e.g., Nielsen, IRI/SPINS, Numerator).

· Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, PowerBI, SQL, and statistical software (e.g., R or Python).

· Knowledge of market research methodologies and techniques.

· Familiarity with consumer-packaged goods industry trends, products, and competitive landscape.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data and insights to non-technical stakeholders.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

· Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
