Job Title: Restaurant Cashier

Job Description:

Position Summary:The restaurant cashier is responsible for accurately processing payments from customers, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring the cash register and cash handling procedures are carried out efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service: Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude. Provide assistance and information to customers as needed, including menu inquiries and special promotions.

Order Processing: Accurately and efficiently take customer orders, either in-person or through the point-of-sale (POS) system. Ensure all orders are recorded correctly, including any special requests or modifications.

Payment Handling: Process customer payments, which may include cash, credit/debit cards, and digital payment methods. Provide accurate change and receipts.

Cash Register Management: Operate the cash register, balancing cash and receipts at the beginning and end of each shift. Ensure the register is stocked with adequate change and maintain a neat and organized cashier area.

Order Coordination: Communicate customer orders to the kitchen staff, ensuring they are prepared in a timely and accurate manner. Coordinate takeout and delivery orders.

Customer Queries: Address customer questions, concerns, or complaints in a professional and courteous manner. Escalate issues to the manager if necessary.

Menu Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the restaurant's menu items and promotions to provide accurate information to customers.

Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized cashier station, including restocking items as needed, and ensuring menus and promotional materials are readily available.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer service role is a plus.
• Proficiency in using a point-of-sale (POS) system and cash register.
• Strong numerical and math skills for accurate handling of cash transactions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
• Attention to detail and the ability to handle money responsibly.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage items is beneficial.
