The helpful and knowledgeable staff is passionate about the industry, and this carries over into the employee’s friendly service that has customers feeling like family. For 53 years, Mario’s Meats has been serving Detroit with the largest selection of locally sourced, Choice Meats, with custom cuts and specialty wrapping always available.

As a Cashier/Sales Associate, you will provide quality customer experiences by providing efficient, effective customer service in the checkout lane. Our Cashiers are the most visible associates to our customers and therefore you will create ‘WOW’ moments that have a positive and lasting impact on our customers. We also ask that you work behind the counter so you can get to know the products we sell.

Job Duties:

• Complete transactions, handle money & credit cards in all forms responsibly.
• Ensure the correct price is charged for each item sold and provide the correct change to our customers.
• Use good eye contact and body language, displaying a friendly and outgoing attitude.
• Be prepared to handle customer questions adequately and appropriately.
• Build trustful relationships with customers to encourage return visits.
• Provides premier customer service, including greeting customers and answering their questions.
• Maintains a neat and clean register area.
• Assists in other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older
• Previous retail or customer experience preferred but not required
• Good verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented and organized
• Friendly outgoing attitude
• Ability to operate the cashier register system
• Desire to work with customers
• Be comfortable handling money and being responsible for it
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product
• Ability to work well with others and be an effective team member
• Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems.

Work Conditions

Cashiers perform their duties primarily at the front end of the store, with exposure to outside weather conditions at times. Work involves standing at a register for prolonged periods, repetitive arm and hand movements, moving and lifting products, and continuous interaction with customers and fellow associates.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
