Description
Has primary responsibility for the administration of property tax collection, real estate excise processing and collection, and miscellaneous deposits.
Examples of Duties
Performs accounting functions which ensure compliance with established practices of the Treasurer’s Office including; operational internal controls for cash accountability, posting to the County records and to ensure operations are in compliance with County, State and Federal regulations regarding tax collection.
Performs operational tasks related to assigned areas of the Treasurer’s Office including cash accountability, internal controls, payment issuance, balancing and auditing payments of property tax billings.
Accepts and processes payments received in person or by mail made to the County Treasurer’s Office in accordance with established procedures including receipt preparation, deposit preparation and balancing.
Processes and collects real estate excise tax.
Assists with preparing bills, mails and receipts payments for County gambling taxes.
Assist with the collection of delinquent personal and real property taxes, records and enters advance tax payments, Issues and collects fees for mobile home moving permits
Assist with the preparation of, issues and mails real and personal property tax statements, processes personal property tax corrections and refunds.
Assists customers and answers questions and inquires pertinent to the Treasurer’s Office. Explains policies, procedures, regulations and requirements pertinent to the Treasurer’s Office. As directed, assists in the training of new employees.
May assist the Senior Cashier, Cashier Deputy Foreclosure and the Cashier Deputy Collections.
Performs other related work as required
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Incumbent must have a least two years experience in a Treasurer’s Office or a similar work environment to be considered for a Senior Cashier position.
OR
Any combination of previous training or experience in government accounting, legal, or tax work which would enable the candidate to perform the functions of the functions of the position will be considered.
AND
Incumbent may be required to obtain ongoing educational credits, certificates and licenses required by the Treasurer’s Office and/or State Statute to conduct business functions including Notary Public Certificate.
AND
Incumbent must be bondable.
