Provides a variety of paraprofessional and supportive services to all levels of staff and the client population of the Children and Family Services Division. This position provides supportive services to families at high risk for abuse, neglect, out-of-home placements, and kinship families.
- Provide transportation to hospitals, clinics, therapy appointments, foster care placements, supervised visitation, court hearings, treatment centers, drug screening facilities and other community agencies as required.
- Coordinate and arrange timely visitation (in house and in the community). Provide a supportive environment and supervision to parents and their children, observing interactions, documenting activities and client functioning after the initial parent/child visitation.
- Make daily decisions related to organizing numerous requests by the workers and prioritizing those requests.
- Occasional childcare assistance and/or other supportive services may be requested.
- The Case Service Aide IV must have the ability to be empathetic, supportive, and sensitive toward clients who are defensive or resistant and lacking in trust.
- Knowledge of family dynamics and of dysfunctional families is required.
- Ability to de-escalate anxious and upset families both in the field and at the Department.
- Conduct field work alongside of, or in addition to, the assigned caseworker including monitoring of safety plans and delivering needed items.
- Assist caseworkers in securing passports
- Assist and transport youth to acquire their state IDs or other forms of identification
- If hired as a bilingual case aide, one of the primary duties will be to interpret for caseworkers who are working with monolingual or bilingual Spanish-speaking families.
- Make requests for birth medical records, birth certificates and social security numbers.
- Request medical, dental and educational records and enter the information into the health passport in Trails.
- Extend treatment plan task timeframes and permanency goal timeframes in Trails
- Assist with scanning when needed.
- Provide support duties during group decision making meetings including RED teams and other meetings as required.
- Scribe for RED Team
- Assist with file development, maintenance and transfer as required
- Complete referral in MANGO and coordinate and schedule FTMs, initial visitations, group supervisions and other meetings as required.
- Complete necessary documents with customers (kinship paperwork, referral resources, etc.)
- Request CBI reports and document in the Trails Case management system
- Request supporting documents as required (hospital records, police records, school records, etc.) and summarize entry into Trails.
- Provide support to caseworkers to gather information, request bus tokens and gas vouchers, as well as secure documentation from a variety of sources including police, hospitals, and other service providers as requested.
- Complete credit checks on children and youth to meet rule requirements and work with the caseworker to remediate any credit discrepancies found.
- Transcription of records into Trails (includes forensic interviews, medical records, police records, school records, etc.)
- Assist with obtaining Accurint records and follow up to ensure the results are pursued
- Document contacts and involvements with families in the Trails system in accordance with Volume VII.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Strong communication and listening skills within the organization and with the community.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to use various electronic systems including Records Management, TRAILS, and Microsoft programs.
- Ability to document accurately and professionally.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to de-escalate highly emotionally charged situations with families.
- Experience: Three years of full-time relevant experience with extensive public contact in a service related field.
- Education and Training:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Additional completed college coursework in behavioral science or a closely related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- License or Certificate: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
- Other: Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Days/Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
