Family Engagement Specialist

Boys & Girls Aid is looking to hire a full-time Family Engagement Specialist. This position serves the Southern Oregon region. The following counties are included: Douglas, Coos, Curry, Josephine, Jackson (Districts 6, 7, and 8). The ideal candidate would reside in any of the counties served.

This family permanency team position earns competitive compensation starting at $20.60/hr. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

As a Family Engagement Specialist, you will utilize a variety of strategies to help locate and engage relatives, kin and other community members connected to children placed within the foster care system. This position requires an effective communicator who can serve internal and external customers in a timely and tactful manner while handling multiple priorities and maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of performed work.

You will partner with Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), access records and conduct thorough reviews of the child's ODHS case record to identify relatives, prior foster parents, or others who have been significant in a child's life and may be able to offer the child a permanent home. Supports the development of connections that are healthy, safe and permanent relationships between children, youth, families and supportive adults. Focus efforts to increase children's connection to family, improve well-being, and placement stability, enhance family-driven decision making and work toward a stronger sense of belonging for children. Coordinates, communicates, and works effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including youth, relatives, resources families, ODHS staff, project evaluators, community service providers, agency staff, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR A FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

  • Master's degree with one year of service, OR a bachelor's degree in relevant field, plus 2 years of relevant experience in social work, counseling or psychology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
