Our Carpenters use their craftsmanship and creativity to build amazing projects for various live events such as auto shows, trade shows and retail environments.
We are seeking a proactive and resourceful individual to join our team as a Carpenter Shop Assistant/Runner. This role requires a versatile individual with a strong knowledge of building materials, hardware, basic carpentry skills, and entry-level electrical knowledge. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn. This position involves assisting our Carpentry Shop with various tasks, including runs to hardware stores, picking up materials, and providing general support.
Responsibilities:
- Run errands to hardware stores and suppliers to pick up required materials and tools.
- Assist with basic carpentry tasks such as measuring, cutting, and assembly under supervision.
- Operate a variety of woodworking machines, as well as hand and power tools, with precision and safety.
- Provide support with basic electrical tasks, such as wiring and installation of fixtures (as directed and supervised by qualified personnel).
- Help organize and clean the workshop area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials at job sites.
- Understand the characteristics of the load being transported, including weight distribution, center of gravity, and any special handling requirements.
- Competently use various securing equipment like straps, chains, binders, and tensioners. Ensure proper tightening and fastening of restraints to prevent movement during transit.
- Provide support during installations and projects as needed.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
- Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment; help with warehousing as needed.
- Performed other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience in woodshop tools and carpentry techniques.
- Knowledge of building materials and hardware.
- Basic understanding of carpentry principles and techniques.
- Entry-level electrical knowledge is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
- Flexibility with working hours and overtime as needed.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl, climb, reach overhead, crouch, kneel, balance, push, pull and safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 Lbs. or more.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in fluctuating temperatures.
- Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions (e.g., dirty, noisy, etc.).
- Ability to work safely at heights including the use of ladders, scaffolds, and other related equipment.
Pay Range $17-$20 DOE.
