Personal Care Aides (Caregiver) assist the patient in the home setting with personal care activities and incidental duties that the patient requires. The Personal Care Aides (Caregiver) demonstrates competent knowledge and skills to ensure assessment of care is appropriate to the age of patients served.
The essential functions for the Personal Care Aides (Caregiver) are:
Essential Functions:
- Providing personal care to geriatric patients according to established standards in order to maximize patient comfort.
- Assessing the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure to monitor his/her condition.
- Changing and making bed to maintain cleanliness of patient bed.
- Assisting with patient transfers, ambulation and prescribed exercises according to established procedures..
- Documentation of care provided and other pertinent observations in the clinical record to promote continuity of care.
