Description:
- Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of all patients during procedures.
- Observes and assesses cardiac clinical status by EKG, blood pressure, and vital signs as directed by physicians for each study
- Conducts regular supply inventory and reorders, assists with the unpacking of daily deliveries of supplies and stocks rooms.
- Maintains complete written records.
- Participates in appropriate professional and technical meetings.
- Participates in Cardiac Cath Lab Quality Assurance and Improvement program.
- Participates in orientation to CCL of new staff and Cardiology Fellows.
- Reviews policies and procedures and teaches aseptic technique.
- Participates in preventative and corrective maintenance for equipment/instrumentation.
- Calibrates programs for Cardiac Cath Lab including contact with repair, vendor, and preventive maintenance personnel.
- Consults with Biomedical Engineering prior to calling vendor service.
- Performs physiologic tests and measurements including cardiac outputs and oxygen saturation. Obtains reliable diagnostic data, monitors and documents patient's baseline EKG/cardiac pressures, and verbally reports any significant changes to the physician performing the procedure.
- Provides interactive and collaborative patient and family education.
- Transports patients to and from the cardiac lab. Assists in the moving of patients from gurney or bed to Cath Lab table.
