Job Summary
Repor ing o he Chief of Campus Safe y or heir designee, Campus Safe y Officers are he main workforce of he Occiden al Campus Safe y Depar men and are responsible for performing a wide varie y of campus safe y func ions. Campus Safe y Officers mus exhibi discre ion, comprehensive knowledge of he law, and he highes e hical s andards. Campus Safe y Officers mus be service-orien ed and mus ac ively assis Occiden al College communi y members in solving problems and main aining he peace. Campus Safe y Officers shall be held accoun able for heir ac ions and mus adhere o he Depar men Mo o - Compassion, Excellence, and In egri y.

Job Du ies
he following s a emen s are in ended o describe he general na ure and level of work being performed by an individual assigned o his job.
1. Perform high visibili y vehicle, bicycle and foo pa rols on campus, a adjacen ren al homes, and a sorori y/ fra erni y houses o discourage and apprehend lawbreakers, and o de er crime;
2. Respond o reques s for assis ance;
3. Respond o emergency calls, fire alarms, and in rusion alarms on campus and a ren al homes;
4. Render emergency firs aid and CPR when needed and s abilize injured persons prior o arrival of paramedics;
5. Respond o repor s of crime;
6. Prepare inciden repor s for supervisory review;
7. Inves iga e College Code of Conduc viola ions;
8. Prepare a daily log of shif ac ivi ies and wri e inciden repor s;
9. Perform periodic checks of he in erior and ex erior of residence halls, adminis ra ive and academic buildings and grounds;
10. Checking doors and windows o see ha hey are properly secured and de ec ing fire, safe y and heal h hazards.
11. Wri e work reques s o correc deficiencies;
12. Pa rol parking areas;
13. Direc raffic;
14. Parking and vehicle permi enforcemen ;
15. Provide appropria e services consis en wi h College policies and prac ices o all members of he campus communi y and visi ors: vehicle le -ins, vehicle ba ery jump-s ar s, informa ion, direc ions o campus and assis ance;
16. Provide dispa ching services;
17. Receive incoming elephone calls and dispa ch informa ion/reques s o officers working in he field;
18. Facili a e calls for emergency services;
19. Answer reques s for informa ion;
20. Provide access o au horized persons o College buildings and facili ies;
21. Provide a presence a College-sponsored even s on and off campus;
22. Perform special assignmen s, pos and surveillance de ails as required by circums ances;
23. Provide safe y escor s on and off campus;
24. In erface wi h local police and fire agencies as appropria e;
25. Represen he College as appropria e in i s rela ionships wi h he communi y, governmen agencies, professional socie ies and similar groups;

Minimum Qualifica ions

• High School diploma or equivalen .
• Minimum of 1 year of previous securi y/campus safe y experience and or equivalen .
• Demons ra e he abili y o main ain a professional demeanor in all si ua ions.
• Abili y o communica e in a helpful, cour eous, effec ive and professional manner in person, by
  elephone, wo-way radio, and elec ronic media;
• Candida es mus exhibi excellen in erpersonal and cus omer service skills.
• Mus have a valid California BSIS guard card, firs aid, and CPR cer ifica ion ------
• Mus have a valid California driver's license (wi h a clean driving record) and be able o be qualified as an Occiden al College designa ed driver (subjec o he specific requiremen s approved by he College's insurance carrier).
• Sa isfac ory comple ion of Peace Officers S andards & raining 832 P.C. and/or 832.2 P.C. course(s) required prior o appoin men .
• Mus be able o compose and comprehend wri en repor s.
• he posi ion requires a physically agile person wi h he abili y o:
  • Lif 50 pounds or more
  • Walk/s and wi hou any res ric ions
  • S oop and climb ladder/s ool o a heigh of 8 fee or more
  • Use bo h hands and arms wi h full range of movemen .
  • May no have a hearing loss of grea er han 40 decibels.

• A comprehensive background/criminal his ory/Megan's Law check will be comple ed.

Preferred Qualifica ions

• Experience in a Campus law enforcemen , corpora e securi y, and/or campus safe y in a higher
  educa ion environmen .

EXPEC ED HIRING RANGE: $19 - $21 per hour
If you are offered his posi ion a Occiden al College, your final base salary compensa ion will be de ermined based on fac ors such as skills, educa ion, experience, and/or geographic loca ion. In addi ion o hose fac ors, Occiden al complies wi h applicable pay equi y laws and considers in ernal equi y among curren employees when developing he final offer. Please keep in mind ha he range men ioned above is he base salary range for he role. Hiring a he maximum of he range would no be ypical in order o allow for fu ure and con inued salary grow h. We also offer a generous compensa ion and benefi s package.
