Job Summary:
This position serves in a leadership role and supports the activities, programs and mission of the Northeastern Illinois University Campus Recreation department. The Campus Recreation Program Director is responsible for overseeing both internal and external programs, events and special functions, as well as assisting in the management of student staff, facilities, and day-to-day operations. This role will work closely with the Interim Associate Director and Executive Director to carry out departmental and campus-wide initiatives. This position reports to the Interim Associate Director of Campus Recreation who reports to the Executive Director of Student Union & Campus Recreation.
Job Description:

  • Manages scheduling, planning and development of Campus Recreation special programs and events and assists university partners in developing on-site recreation/sports programs.
  • Assists in management of student staff, graduate assistants, and event support staff including training, shift supervision, scheduling and administrative tasks. Ensures proper level of support for Campus Recreation programs and functions.
  • Manages Campus Recreation departmental communications including weekly newsletters, webpages, and marketing materials.
  • Assists Associate Director and Executive Director in implementing new initiatives, programs and procedures to enhance the NEIU campus experience and positively impact the campus community.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
Additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization:

Salary: $56,000
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision benefits, generous time off plans, and participation in the State Universities Retirement System.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
