Job description

Overview: This individual is responsible for maintaining a secure environment ensuring safety to students, staff, parents and authorized guests during all school operations.
Employment Schedule: 10-months, Full-Time
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Ensures student and staff safety at all times;
  • Checks visitors for proper identification while on school premises and guides them as needed;
  • Reports any student and/or non-student demonstrating unacceptable behavior to School Administration;
  • Guards campus, securing only authorize individuals are in school grounds;
  • Establishes effective rapport with students, staff, and parents;
  • Reports all incidents, which require police assistance to School Administration;
  • Supports staff during school functions such as hall monitoring, lunchroom duty, bus arrivals/departures, class transitions, drop off and dismissal;
  • Performs other related work as required.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of the basic methods and practices of school monitor work;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with teachers and school staff;
  • Maintains appropriate communication and professional decorum with students
  • Takes initiative and is resourceful in problem solving;
  • Ability to act quickly, calmly, and correctly, during emergency situations;
  • Ability to write a simple report;
  • High school degree or equivalent;
  • Monitor experience: 2 years (Preferred);
  • Spanish (Preferred); many of our families are primarily Spanish speaking;
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check and drug testing.
