Job Title:Campus Athletic Coordinator Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in Implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and Achievement.
Department Primary Purpose: 1.To lead in the development, coordination and implementation of the total district football program and campus assigned athletic program.
  1. To exercise leadership, administrative, supervisory and teaching skills in ways that promote the development and maintenance of a successful Athletic program for the assigned high school.
  1. To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
  1. Through instruction to lead students to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification: Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience/Knowledge: Five years of successful Head Varsity Football coaching experience,
College Football coaching experience or Football (Offensive or Defensive) Coordinator experience.
Work experience, professional, or professional certification related to the nature of the performance responsibilities and which may constitute an acceptable addition or alternative to any or all qualifications listed above. Or any other requirement as deemed necessary by the Board of Trustees.
Head Football Coach Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Provide leadership and organization to ensure that the football program/staff emphasizes the importance of academics towards student success.
  2. Work cooperatively with principals and faculty to communicate the district's football program, philosophy and goals.
  3. Promote a positive, caring climate that fosters excellence and equity by enhancing student participation in sports at all levels.
  4. Collaborate with school Principal and the Athletic Director in making program recommendations and resolving program concerns/issues.
  5. Administer all football program procedures in accordance with school board policies and U.I.L.
  6. Communicate to athletes and their parent's program goals, regulations, academic guidelines in order to ensure their compliance.
  7. Interview and recommend to Principal & Athletic Director qualified personnel for program needs.
  8. Provide staff development for Football Coaches that will enhance their professional skills.
  9. Evaluate high school (9-12) Football Coaches and all head middle school Football Coaches assigned.
  10. Lead staff in identifying program strengths, assign specific program duties & responsibilities to Football Coaches.
  11. Coordinate with other head coaches the effective and efficient management of all programs matters. (I.e. coaching assignments, practice times, scheduling student participation in more than one sport, etc...)
  12. Coordinate with Athletic Director the recognition events of athletes.
  13. Disseminate information promoting the school football programs to news media, college recruiters as permitted, booster club members, parents and fans.
  14. Collaborate with Principal and the Athletic Director in examining football program effectiveness, by recommending policies, which enhance vertical articulation of football program and strengthen coordination with other athletic programs.
  15. Coordinate with the Athletic Director the proper purchasing practice and efficient management of program budget.
  16. Operate a system that properly identifies, maintains, issues, stores and accounts for athletic supplies, materials & equipment purchased.
  17. Compile, maintain and file appropriate documentation of physical examinations, parental consent forms, insurance forms, student eligibility status, injury reports and any other required documents.
  18. Assist the Athletic Director in developing schedules, arranging transportation and meeting other requirements for athletic events.
  19. Coordinate and ensure a safe environment for students at athletic facilities and events, Respond appropriately to all injuries as they occur.
  20. Report any violation of the district's Student Code of Conduct/Athletic Directives policies to the Athletic Director and the appropriate Principal.
  21. Any other duties assigned by the High School Principal or the Athletic Director as they may be needed to achieve academic/athletic goals.

Athletic Coordinator Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Serve as the athletic coordinator at the school assigned.
  2. Organize and supervise the overall program of interscholastic athletics for the schools assigned.
  3. Responsible for recruitment, recommendation of assignments/re-assignments, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff for the assigned campus.
  4. Assist the Athletic Director in making re-assignments to meet the needs of the overall athletic program.
  5. Assist the Athletic Director to ensure that all job vacancies are posted at central office as soon as they occur.
  6. Arrange transportation, lodging and meals for all athletes and coaches of assigned campus.
  7. Assist and be responsible to the campus Principal in all matters concerning curriculum.
  8. Assist with the overall athletic program at the feeder middle schools as directed by the Athletic Director.
  9. Instill good sportsmanship and fair play by all Campus Athletic coaches and athletics.
  10. Verify athletics' eligibility (grades, insurance, waivers, age attendance, parent permission forms etc...)
  11. Upload all paperwork and documentation to goggle drive for athletic office processing.
  12. Follow any covid protocols required by the School District.
  13. Monitor daily practice schedule for in-season sports and off-season sports.
  14. Ensure all injuries are cared for appropriately ( by notifying the school trainer, team doctor, parents and assuring all insurance documentation is processed properly),
  15. Promote good communication.
  16. Compile all Campus Athletic honors (athletic awards, all -district, regional qualifiers, scholarships) for recognition to the Athletic Director.
  17. Ensure athletics have transportation home after practice, game and trips.
  18. Keep Principal and the Athletic Director abreast at all times of functions, awards problems etc.
  19. Compile and assist the development of an athletic handbook (philosophy, conduct, awards etc.)
  20. Ensure that all sports meet the ordering dealine and vertify that the quates are equipment specific to the sport and not over budget.
  21. Compile program needs, inventories, and requisitions through the form of bid packages for all campus sports.
  22. Compile and assist the Athletic Director with the athletic budget for the campus.
  23. Comply and keep abreast of U.I.L. rules regulations and reports,
  24. Oversee the safety conditions of all playing and practice facilities plus athletes' equipment.
  25. Cooperating in the total athletic program and assisting in other assignment.
  26. Compile athletic schedules for all sports for Athletic Director's approval.
  27. Assist the Principal with the supervision of home games.
  28. Collect all paperwork (meals receipts, bus requisitions, official forms, tournament entry fees, etc...)
  29. Any other duties assigned by the High School Principal or the Athletic Director as they may be needed to achieve academic/athletic goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: All assigned Campus Athletic coaches.
