Description
Position: Campus Activities Supervisor/Facility Manager
Department: Residential
Reports To: Administrator
FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Administrator, the Campus Activities Supervisor has the primary responsibility for developing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the dorm and agency activity schedule for various programs, age groups, and levels of trauma and developmental needs. The Campus Activities Supervisor provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to the residential program. When serving as Program Supervisor, the Campus Activity Supervisor provides direct, on-site supervision of and support to designated residential care staff and the milieu. Specifically providing leadership for staff and clients in resolving crisis situations and acting as the liaison between residential care staff and other agency professionals and staff. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing the work of assigned residential and support staff. The Campus Activities Supervisor will supervise the youth during recreational activities, allowing the youth an opportunity to improve self-esteem and encourage sportsmanship and positive behaviors. Activities will be structured to support Trauma Informed Care using best practice at all times and Evidence Based Practices when possible. The Campus Activities Supervisor will collaborate with the Program Supervisors to prepare dorm schedules that support daily therapeutic activity programs for each age group and maintain planned participation in general aspects of daily life skill schedules that align with youth Personal Rights per Title 22.
During assigned shifts, the Campus Activities Supervisor assumes the role of Facility Manager and has the authority and responsibility necessary to manage and control day-to-day operation of the facility and supervises the clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, Coordinate and Lead Recreation - 55% of time
  • Responsible for developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating CRH residential activity program.
  • Responsible for creating a favorable group climate in which the child's safety, emotional nurturing and healthy development are of primary concern.
  • Ensure that all children/youth participate in activities in accordance with their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Provides child care and supervision for the clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of the behavior program and how it applies to the residential program.
  • Maintain discipline and group control at all time, reporting any unresolved conflicts to a supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Program Supervisors, Residential Counselors, clinical teams, and CRH clinic regarding issues concerning the clients, as needed for continuity of care.
  • Ensure staffing ratios are met at all times.
  • In conjunction with the Program Supervisors, post specific and detailed schedules in individual dorms weekly and ensure the completed schedules are maintained on file with Administrator for at least six (6) months.
  • Ensure funds are available and distributed accurately for Campus Activities by requesting funds from the Accounting Department.
  • Responsible for being an informed and supportive team member.
  • Provide constructive feedback to direct reports and team members in a professional manner with the intention of promoting growth and learning.
  • Notifies direct reports of new policies and protocols.
  • Obtains On Call Staff availability as needed and maintains time cards of direct reports.
  • Primary responsibility to develop plan, organize, implement, and evaluate Campus Activity Schedules with staff assistance.
  • Implement and support individual Dorm Schedules and Activity Schedules.
  • Participate with the youth in a variety of recreational activities to help build and maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Develop a monthly activity schedule for various age groups that meets CCL requirements for social, educational, recreational, and physical activity for youth in care.
  • Responsible for maintaining Recreation Supplies and storage of supplies for campus.
  • Intervene in crisis situations as learned in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) to ensure the safety clients and staff.
  • Provide transportation for children as directed by an Administrator or Manager as necessary and in accordance with the agency transport policy.
  • Responsible for maintaining a neat and orderly campus, meeting all Title 22 regulations and the health and safety codes required of this agency.
  • Maintains the CRH "Points Store" and assist youth through the process of 'spending' their accumulated points weekly during their stay.
  • Accountable for reporting building and equipment damage and/or unsafe conditions and initiate action to correct any unsafe conditions.

Personnel and Quality Management- 45% of time
  • Supports the Program Supervisors, including maintenance of up-to-date schedules that meet regulatory requirements.
  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of assigned staff according to program goals and objectives and CRH policies and treatment philosophy.
  • Oversees and participates in the interviewing and hiring process, ensuring compliance with all agency and regulatory policies, practices and laws as needed.
  • Responsible for the collection, review, approval, and submission of direct reports' timesheets. Ensure staff adhere to agency timeframes, policies and procedures with regard to timesheets.
  • Assist staff with identification of individual skill or knowledge deficits and facilitate availability of learning opportunities and develop and administer a plan for development.
  • Oversees direct reports, providing the necessary and appropriate counseling or disciplinary action in accordance with agency policies, consulting with Human Resources when major disciplinary action is needed.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations of the Children's Receiving Home.
  • Ensures orientation and training for new direct reports and subsequently ensures staff are enrolled in and/or have completed required training.
  • Ensures completion and routing of all required original personnel and training forms and records to the Human Resource and Training Departments, respectively.
  • Conducts timely performance evaluations for direct reports as well as monitoring timeliness of all performance evaluations.
  • Models, and supports the principles and practices of quality management.
  • Maintains a focus on outcomes for assigned program
  • Ensures staff engagement with families and children in a manner that respects ethnic and cultural practices/customs/ and differences.
  • Must be familiar with, and have the ability to carry out, all emergency/disaster plans.
  • Provides orientation, training and support to new residential staff, volunteers, interns, and any other CRH staff.
  • Attends and participates in regular staff meetings regarding program issues and in-service training.
  • Performs other agency duties assigned.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
  • Required
  • BA/BS Degree
    • or 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, Adolescent Development units, Foster and Kinship Care Education and at least 100 hours of experience working with youth
    • or valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor and at least 100 hours experience working with youth
    • or valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating experience as a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and at least 100 hours experience working with youth
    • or previously employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term therapeutic center for at least one year.
  • and Completion of or enrollment in a related education or training program for coordinating activities
  • and One year experience as a supervisor
  • and Six months experience in organizing and providing planned activities
  • Previous experience working with children in a residential setting is preferred.

The facility manager shall meet one of the following requirements prior to employment:
    • One year of full time experience, or its equivalent, working with the client group to be served (Experience shall be verified as having been performed as a paid or volunteer staff person whose duties required direct supervision and care of the client group served.)
    • or Two years of experience as a member of the social work staff in a group home performing those duties specified in Title 22 Group Home Regulation section 84065.2(c)
    • or Completion with a passing grade, from an accredited or approved college or university, of 15 college semester or equivalent quarter units in behavioral science, 9 units of which must be in courses relating to children with behavioral problems which may be the result of abuse, neglect, or emotional trauma. The courses may include, but are not limited to curriculums in Corrections, Psychology, Social Work, or Social Welfare.

Prior to assuming the duties and responsibilities of the facility manager, the individual shall complete a minimum of one hour of Facility Manager training as specified in Title 22 Group Home Regulations Section 84065(k), in addition to training required in New Child Care Staff Training Section 84065(i) and Annual Training required in Section 84065 (j).
Please note: Any person willfully making any false representation as being a facility manager is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • STRTP or GHAC Certification preferred.
  • Must have Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification and Mastered TCI - LSI 1 Status.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License. Must be able to meet the Agency's rules and be eligible to drive for business. The Agency's insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass First Aid certification course before start of employment. Certification can be completed through the Children's Receiving Home.
  • Must pass CPR within the first six weeks of employment
  • Must pass Bloodborne Pathogens and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification courses offered through the Children's Receiving Home within the first three months of employment.
  • Must maintain TCI, CPR, First Aid and BBP Certification throughout employment.
  • Must complete online Mandated Reporter Training within first week of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
