Job description

Assists therapist in the delivery of behavioral health services to children in a therapeutic day camp setting.
Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitates the camp programming
    • Implements daily programming and scheduled activities as instructed
  • Monitor the behavior of the children in daily programming activities
    • Redirect as necessary with regard to safety and appropriate interaction with staff and peers
    • Facilitate constructive participation in all facets of the day camp
  • Assist therapists in documentation
    • Document / report daily observations of children's behaviors
    • Document / report progress with respect to treatment goals
  • Maintain a safe environment for patient and others
  • Consistently demonstrates use of equipment specific to age of patient served
  • Consistently demonstrates use of procedures specific to age of patient served
  • Consistently identifies biopsychosocial and spiritual needs specific to age of patient served
  • Provides age appropriate education to patients and families.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
  • College credits in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related discipline.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience with children/adolescents in behavioral health, educational or child care setting.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

License, Certification & Clearances
  • PA Act 153 Clearances (Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system, Act 33-PA Child Abuse History obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, Act 73-FBI Fingerprint requirement).

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
  • Travel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations.
