South Shore Stars runs an exciting summer day camp in Weymouth for kids age entering K-1st grade. The summer camp offers enrichment programs such as martial arts, yoga, theme weeks, and special events.

The Camp Director oversees all aspects of the summer camp program and participates in planning and organization prior to and following camp.
* This is a seasonal program. The program operates from July 1st, 2024, to August 23rd, 2024.*
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory:
- Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate all camp staff.
- Develop and maintain positive spirit and camaraderie among all camp staff.
- Plan, organize and lead camp staff orientation.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff to communicate Stars policies, discuss program related issues, and provide supervision.
Programmatic:
- Work with Program Director to develop and implement program goals, policies, procedures, and curriculum.
- Oversee day to day activities of the camp and after camp sites.
- Ensure that program policies, procedures and safety standards are carried out daily both at camp and after camp sites.
- Coordinate programming including daily schedules, activities, field trips and special events.
- Oversee the establishment and maintenance of behavioral limits and group order, based on program philosophy and policies.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships and communication with parents/guardians including developing periodic camp newsletters.
- Coordinate with School Age Program Director and other Stars staff to ensure continuity between school year programs and camp.
- Identify child specific concerns and work with staff, social workers, and parents/guardians to develop plans to meet childrenâ€'s needs.
Administrative:
- Ensure that all required paperwork is completed promptly and accurately.
- Maintain camp records.
- Oversee with pre-camp preparations.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Hale staff.
- Ensure site and program meet all regulatory and licensing standards.
- Oversee all logistical operations for camp including transportation, field trips, food service, etc.
- Order needed supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, recreation or related field.
- Experience supervising staff and performing administrative duties.
- At least five years of experience working in a camp or recreation program.
- First Aid and CPR certified.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with people of different ages and backgrounds.
Reports to: Director of School Age Programs
* All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs and work in a non-sedentary environment.
