CHIEF OBJECTIVES OF THIS POSITION
This is an opportunity for the right individual to make this cafe their own. Excellent food, excellent service, and creating and maintaining a warm welcoming environment are essential for success in this position. The Barista-Café Attendant is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the health and wellness of the entire team by providing food service and support to the team, preparing meals, drinks, refreshments, and snacks. The Barista-Café Attendant sets up, services, and breaks down the food and beverage area each day to ensure the highest level of quality, consistency, and service.
DIRECT REPORTS TO
Director of Operations
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and prepare simple breakfast and lunch meals including salads, soups, and sandwiches.
- Informing team members about daily and weekly menu items, specials, and products or services.
- Taking individual orders and accurately preparing them.
- Operating and maintaining coffee, cappuccino, and other food preparation equipment.
- Maintaining a hygienic environment by cleaning surfaces and equipment in kitchen and lounge areas.
- Monitor the area to ensure adequate supplies of food, beverages, plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, etc. are available; replenish items as necessary.
- Ensure procedures are followed to ensure the proper storage of food and beverage products, inventory, and equipment and to minimize waste.
Other Duties:
- Proactively clean, and organize the cafe areas, which include but are not limited to tables, carts, microwaves and grills, sinks, refrigerator/freezers, service areas, walls, floors, and counters.
- Empty trash receptacles, and clear tables as needed.
- Order and maintain inventory levels to ensure the cafe has an adequate supply.
- Check the working condition of equipment and machinery following their specifications. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, or any other maintenance and repair needs to supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some previous food and beverage experience is preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is required, other languages are beneficial.
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities are preferred.
- Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
- Carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Will be required to use cleaning chemicals regularly.
- ServSafe certification is a plus.
- Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
