Our client is looking for a Project Surveyors (levels I - III) to join their team! They are a multifaceted energy, land, and community development engineering and surveying firm serving public and private sector clients throughout the Midwest. The Senior Project Surveyor is responsible for translating office preparation work to the field crew and technical staff while overseeing survey projects in order to prepare client deliverables and achieve the profitability, safety, quality, and operations objectives of the company.

DUTIES & RESONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct surveys for various purposes including boundary/ROW determination, easement placement, and site plan preparation.
  • Research and review client documents, legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property and features in areas to be surveyed.
  • Review project scope, research and analyze legal records, deeds, plats, maps, survey drawings, and other sources to achieve client goals, perform/assist in boundary determinations, direct crews, and write opinions and descriptions.
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of all charts, plots, maps, records, and document related to surveys.
  • Verify the accuracy of field data, including measurements and calculations, collected from survey sites.
  • Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, easements, plat maps, or other legal documents.
  • Review cut sheets for construction staking based on design plans.
  • Meet and exceed client expectations by ensuring accurate, complete, and timely communication between clients and MCA.
  • Assist in developing project budgets, cost controls, and schedules.
  • Collaborate, develop, and lead various aspects of survey quality assurance & quality control process.
  • Maintain exceptional intercompany and client relationships.
  • Duties as assigned by senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or related field and/or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Minimum ten (10) years applicable experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and able to travel to client meetings and project sites as needed.
  • SIT, PS license, and/or CST level four preferred.
  • Experience budgeting and managing survey projects.
  • Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary surveys, construction layout, and field to finish procedures and methods.
  • Field experience as a Chief Field Surveyor a plus.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil3D; and MicroStation a plus.
  • Excellent concentration, proofreading, and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skill, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, organization, preparation, and execution capabilities to balance projects and meet deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Primarily work in an office setting. With ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.
  • Frequently lifts or moves objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
