Title:CAD Technician/Field Engineer/APM

Status: Full-Time

Location: Picatinny Arsenal, NJ

Travel: Local/Regional


Position Summary:

Midnight Sun Global Services is hiring an on-site CAD Technician/Field Engineer/APM to support Federal construction contracts in Picatinny, NJ. This position will also serve as the On-Site Assistant Project Manager and support the Program Manager with all contractual requirements.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in managing delivery order execution in accordance with contract requirements and project procedures.
  • Assists with project budgets; Communicates effectively with all team members, including subcontractors and clients; Meets with senior level project team members to regularly gain knowledge, ideas, and insight in order to develop skills, ensure success; Develops and reviews SOW through site visits, existing conditions, and client needs so project requirements and expectations are clearly defined; Negotiates with client and subcontractors as necessary; Coordinates project close out, obtaining required documentation, assisting in pre-final inspections and As-Built drawings.
  • Prepares estimates based on technical specifications, statement of work (SOW), and drawings; Assists with entering line items into Unit Price Book software using RS Means or other line items estimating tools.
  • Assists in development of project schedules with superintendents for use by customer and subcontractors.
  • Solicits proposals from at least three vendors and/or subcontractors to include documentation on equipment, material, and labor costs for items not covered in an industry standard manual or work to be performed by subcontractors; Reviews proposals to confirm compliance with SOW; Assembles subcontractor quotes for review; Gathers subcontractor safety information.
  • Attends pre-issuance site visits with project managers for each job order to review existing conditions and to determine client needs in detail.
  • Assists Project Manager in developing the project scope of work as it relates to project design, including preliminary approximations of the types of materials to be used and basic quantity counts construction, progress, and other project meetings, and distributes minutes.
  • Assists in project close-out by obtaining required documentation, assisting with pre-final inspections and As-Built drawings.
  • Ensures compliance with all company Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and procedures along with all local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.).
  • Assists with daily reports and other field assignments; Assists with writing scopes of work and performing job walks; Provides support with project buyout, procurement of subcontractors, materials, and equipment; Prepares AutoCAD as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals; Assists Project Manager during bid negotiations.
  • Assists in the development of detailed line-item takeoffs and pricing; Assists with entering line items into Unit Price Book software using RS Means or other line items estimating tools.
  • Prepares bid documents for subcontractors; Assembles subcontractor quotes for review; Gathers subcontractor safety information; Assists in tracking progress payments and invoicing from subcontractors; Prepares subcontracts and other subcontractor safety information.
  • Must have an Uncompromising Commitment to Safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, or related field highly desired.
  • 2+ years of experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of construction means and methods.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of architectural, civil, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with detailed fixed price estimates and the ability to use RS Means or other published unit price books.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to include clear, concise, and professional presentation of information.
  • Must demonstrate a strong ability to:
    • Adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles.
    • Adapt to the constantly evolving world of technology, design, means and methods, systems may include but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, and Adobe.

Work Environment:

  • Performance of the required job duties will be in an office environment along with visits to sites that are under construction, which may include various weather conditions.
  • Responsible for driving between project sites that are often miles apart or miles from the assigned office location.

    • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach.
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
